It was Coco Chanel who said a woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life.
Hi folks, allow me to introduce myself. I’m Lila, Jim’s lady friend 😉 Jim was gracious enough to let me write this weeks post. I relate to this weeks strip in a big way. For years I had a head of thick, long out of control hair that others loved. But for the most part it lived in a ponytail on the back of my head unnoticed. So I made a decision on a hot summer day to cut it off. I walked into a hairdressers with a magazine clipping of a hairstyle and a hope of looking as good as the model in the photo… (hairdressers love when ya do that). I said get out your magic wand and lets do this. You could hear the gasp when the hair started hitting the floor. But I was good with it. Unlike most women, I do not fret over such things. It’s only hair, it’ll grow back… One look in the mirror at the finished product and I was a new woman. I felt light and a new sense of freedom came over me. I ran with that and I haven’t looked back since.
Turned out I suit short hair.  But, there were a few who didn’t like my new look. Mostly those who equate long hair to femininity. Can you imagine? Sillies, we all know it’s the boobs that make the woman… kidding of course.

Jim here: Thongor_29Todays Sword and Sorcery cover is by the late great Gil Kane and features Lin Carter’s character, Thongor of Lost Lemuria! He ran in a few issues of Marvels Creatures on the Loose. Initially when Roy Thomas and Stan Lee were looking to adapt a sword and sorcery character to comics during the S&S boom of the late 60’s, they first looked to this character to adapt to his own comic, but Lin Carter didn’t give his permission, so rascally Roy decided to try for the best and original S&S character, Conan the Cimmerian…and the rest is history! Once Marvel was able to get the rights to Carter’s Thongor, the ship had already sailed and Conan had already taken the top spot as barbarian par excellence!
