Bigger on the Inside!
Now that’s a Cappuccino! Something tells me that there is more to Reggie than meets the eye. Could it possibly be that he is incorporating some time-lord science in his costume design? Judging by the stink-eye that the familiar character in the background is shooting at Reggie, it just might be possible. Anyone who hasn’t checked out Peter Capaldi as the latest Doctor is really missing out on a brilliant interpretation of the 2,000 year old time lord. If you’re new to Doctor Who, this season is a good jumping on point…and if you’re new to Oddly Aroused…Welcome! I hope that you stick around for awhile because there are a lot of fun and exciting things for our cosplaying heroine coming up in the future. Take care and have a great week till I see you again! – Jim
Hello Mr. Collins, I know I didn’t post much over at LoB, but I was there, and Barwench Tales was one of the highlights of my week. Now I’m here, and hoping to be commenting a bit more.
Thanks, Balthazar! I remember you and I’m glad to have you here at my new home.I hope you enjoy the new strip 🙂
Hiya, I first heard about you from a mutual friend on DeviantArt.
Still, on with the relevance:-
I’d agree with you about Peter Capaldi being an interesting new take on The Doctor (and for the first time in “New Who” the actor playing the role is older than me 🙂 ). The biggest issue with this season as a “jump in point” is that Clara’s back story goes into previous seasons, and the trailer for the season finale looks like it relies on same.
You’re absolutely correct paws4thot, Clara has a bit of back story to get caught up on, but I know a few people, my girlfriend being one, who are watching the show now because of Capaldi’s Doctor. I would recommend this season to anyone who isn’t familiar with the Doctor to hook them and once they’re hooked, they have a rich history of episodes to get caught up on. And if they fall in love with the character of Clara, they can go back into prior episodes and learn more about her. It’s a win-win 😉 I’m personally so happy to have a mature Doctor once again. It takes me back to the feeling I had watching the Pertwee and Baker episodes. They are what got me hooked back in the day. Thanks for your comments, I hope to see you around the strip now and then!
Hey Jim! Thanks for leaving your calling card @LoB. Looking forward to poking around and seeing what the future brings. Got’chya bookmarked now, so will be stopping by & harassing you on occasion. 😉
Harass away 3X..:D You were always one of my biggest supporters over at LoB and I always looked forward to reading your comments. I wanted to drop a note to let everyone who liked my work over there to know where they could find me…and you did! So that makes me very happy. Thanks for checking out the strip, 3X…Don’t be a stranger!
No worries. You’re on just about daily checklist. No pressure, just update when you can.
Also, I made mention of Agnes cosplaying Seeley on LoB purely as a suggestion. You’re way too early in the strip to branch into too many directions yet, but what I had in mind was that “I am going to become the best professional cosplay girl in the land!” would include branching out once in a while on one-off “other” characters. Seeley would, of course, be incredibly niche & obscure and was not all that serious a suggestion. But, diversity in attempts is necessary to really nail your favorite character, and yo often learn more from a FAIL than a success (not to mention the comedic possibilities of spectacular FAIL ..?).
I taught English in Latvia for 7 years. One of my students was one of the top actresses in the country. Apart from English, I was also able to direct her careerwise. Something I am particularly proud of, during our lessons our conversation turned to what she could do to become a better actress, and I advised her to look up clown schools in France and take a course or two. Apart from needing English, she needed also the education & experience to project her acting without any spoken language. She went on to a year enrollment, and came back to compete and win several competitions throughout Europe. I keep hoping to see her turn up in an international movie in the States. Hopefully, some day.
Anyway, just do what you’re happy doing. I’ve always been about the journey, not the destination. Most of living happens on the journey and you get a couple snapshots of the destination.
All that said, though. Start here and read about five strips or so forward for an idea or two about cosplaying a few webcomic characters in a condensed format. The comments from readers on those strips also worth a read:

I can totally see Agnes having to manage and try on several wardrobe options for a ‘special event’ of some sort or another.
I love your quote about it being about the journey and not about the destination. It’s so true! Right now, I’ve got this webcomic nailed down for a few years at least, which leaves me a lot of room to really develop this into something that I love doing on a weekly basis. I have the freedom to do whatever I want here and make myself happy and in the process I’m hoping that I develop a decent readership that finds enjoyment in what I do here.
Releasing Oddly Aroused every Monday, barring any natural disasters or getting struck by a streetcar, is a given. Ideally I’d like to post twice a week, but with a busy work life and full personal life, it’s tough to do. But I have the time to figure things out and as I get more proficient and skilled at this, things will change and get better. That’s the beauty of this whole webcomic thing, it’s a learning process and it gives the readers a chance to share in the artists journey.
I plan to show Agnes in different costumes on occasion, but my dilemma is that I wanted to create a recognizable character with an iconic look. She’ll always come back to being Sonya Crimson, because that is who she wants to be and in her mind, she is Sonya Crimson. And she’s lucky enough as a cosplayer that that is the persona the public demands to see her in.
But stay tuned, I’ll be sticking to one-off strips to begin with, developing her character, introducing new ones and then eventually, I’l get into longer story arcs that challenge Sonya in many ways. I got plans for this gal..Trust me!
