Even in her dreams, Agnes realizes a wish come true, but as with most things easily gained, there is always a catch. In this case she might just catch her death of cold. I hope you enjoy this weeks strip. See you next week – Jim
This weeks Sword and Sorcery cover comes to us with courtesy from Gold Key Comics. Dagar the Invincible ran for 19 issues and featured the unique and incredible art of Jesse Santos. Written by Don Glut, this Fantasy series is worth a look, not only for the great art but also for the action and sorcery-filled stories of Don Glut. You sense that both creators had a lot of fun with this series.
This is quite a fine strip — epic and sexy, with a neat Red Sonja pastiche thrown in. Good thing Agnes didn’t take that last advice…
I haven’t read Dagar, but the pages Google’s picking up for me do look interesting.
Thanks very much, khelatar! And you should check out Dagar if you get a chance. Really good series!
So kinda like the Dread Pirate Roberts then? There wouldn’t happen to be a prophecy would there?
Agnes/Sonya needs a good cloak to keep the chill at bay. As you said, being unbeatable in battle won’t keep mother nature from kicking your butt.
The page looks awesome Jim, and is oddly appropriate, as I watched Red Sonya just last night.
Thanks, balthazar! How was the movie? I’ve never actually watched it, oddly enough 😛
It’s about what you’d expect. It’s pretty clear that for many of the actors, english is not a first language, but they do alright. The fight scenes are straight out of a comic book, which is hilarious, and the writing is basic and straightforward. No last minute twists here. It’s one of those movies you have to see every few years just because. I’d give it a 3.5 to 4 out of 5 though, just because it’s a fun watch, especialy with friends there to help give it the MYST3K treatment.
Aw, what the heck! I’ll see if I can find a copy and give it a shot…for research purposes only, mind you. That’s it, research.
You can find it online without a whole lot of difficulty. I just used Youtube.
