Situation Java!
And now we return to our regularly scheduled comic:
Personally, I wouldn’t mess with someone whose sole goal in life is to live her life as a fierce, sword-wielding, ass-kicking, scarlet tressed warrior, who is known for cleaving and hewing poor unfortunate souls to the ultimate point of death.
Lets face it folks, life is stressful. Sometimes the only thing keeping you outta prison is that cup of coffee. Then there is the price of said cup of coffee! Never did I think I would stand in line willingly to spend six dollars on a cup o’ joe. So I totally understand why Sonya would react in that manner to anyone… especially to her nemesis Dark Sonya. What will come of this meeting of Sonya’s?! You’ll just have to wait and see. Happy Monday! …now off to work with ya’ll (coffee in hand) Beats prison I guess 😉
Ok, I thought the coffee house was “not” a certain well-known franchise hailing from Seattle. If that’s so, then IMO Black just did Red a favour by spilling her weak caffeinated beverage made from burnt beans.
But damn, that weak coffee costs a down payment on a house!
Exactly, and on most UK high streets you can find stronger and better made coffee from better roasted beans for less money (even from other franchises, never mind independants).
Bar fight in a coffee house.
Y’know … you’d think, putting together caffeine-deficient people seeking to become (and succeeding in) overly caffeinated … you would think this would be a far more common trope.
The chainmail and leather armor (and the large expanses of it that aren’t there) are, however, something of a surprise. If that was a feature of my local coffee house, I’d certainly spend a lot more time there.
Hmmmmmm. Now I’m thinking I should open a chain called Caffeine Warrior™. Theme it circa 1500s exotic world trading. And pirates. Everybody loves pirates. Now pirates + caffeine. Just how much WIN can you puy into a single shop? 😉
Would there be rum, 3X? Where there’s Pirates, there must be rum!
Good rum would certainly put some Yo! Ho! Ho! into the Jolly Roger. Also, increased incidence of barfights. So, all around win-win-win. Especially for me, since I happen to enjoy rum quite a bit.
Try this sometime: half Amaretto and half dark rum, maybe over a single ice cube. Sip and savor slowly. Also good spooned over vanilla ice cream. I don’t use the very best Amaretto or the top shelf rum for this, but “decent” quality. The very top shelf should be saved to showcase their qualities to the best … but an Amaretto-rum is one of my favorite winter sipping drinks when relaxing to a good book. I’ve been known to drink the equivalent of about ten or so shots (5+5) without too much effort.
Never tried it in coffee. Not sure how well that’d work in coffee, but maybe on the side ..?
That certainly sounds like a great drink! Our favourite rum to drink is, The Kraken: Black spiced rum. It’s not top shelf, but it aspires to be so and pulls it off nicely. Have you ever tried Black Velvet Toasted Caramel Rye? Nice over rocks or added to a coffee. Very nice taste!
Regarding Black Velvet Toasted Caramel Rye, can’t say that I recall. I’ll keep an eye open for it as an exception to my usual rule(s) upon your recommend, but usually I stay away from things that seem like a caramel liquor of some sort. There was this 100 Proof Caramel Schnapps Incident™ during my college years, y’see …
Generally these days, I don’t remember a lot of specific labels anymore, there were just too many over the years in far too many languages for me to pronounce or remember. My heavy drinking days are done and times have been a bit lean to keep a stock of top shelf. I can merely attest that for many years I drank quite a number of upper-end labels, both in the States and in Europe. Developed a taste for Scotch whiskey, fine gin, a few liquors, robust rum (especially dark & high proof), and some interesting Finn and Ukrainian vodkas.
But, actually, what I most would like to have back is my brewing equipment so I could make my own beers again. I miss that a lot more than anything else. Well, that and “coffee shops” in the Netherlands. 😉
I’ve been told that, as a general rule, you should never cook with any alcohol that you’re not prepared to drink!
I can see one problem with this idea; what happens when the ninjas arrive?
I never assume that ninjas aren’t always around. I’d certainly never assume that they have yet to arrive.
Ninjas! Don’t give me any ideas…Actually keep the ideas a-coming! 😉
As site admin, you can get my e-mail easily enough. If you want more details, like a funny story that would make a 3 or 4 frame cartoon inspired by “Tenchu: Stealth Assassins” and to not give it away to anyone who reads comments you’re welcome to use it.
Crom has granted her revenge.
He is grim and loveless, but at birth he breathes power to strive and slay into a (wo)man’s soul.
What else shall men ask of the gods?
Thought I’d pop in for a peek… You boys got it made here eh? Comics, boobs, chainmail bikinis, coffee, booze and a fight!! Throw in a boy with a little “sway & swagger” and this could possibly be the coolest spot to hang out on the web. 😉
i’ll make a note regarding the sway and swagger dude. More characters will be introduced as time goes by, so stay tuned!
Meh … I can do without the fighting. But the rest of it is pretty spot-on Heaven.
Anime showings are in the back room on Saturday nights, gaming nights usually on Fridays, though. Philosophical discussion of science fiction & fantasy is encouraged, and there’s always an extra chair at any table for any mel or fem.
And popcorn. Always a fresh kettle of popcorn coming off the stove. 😉
Ahhh…that ubiquitous tub of popcorn! I remember it well from my Barwench Tales days 😉
Well, pop up a tub of it for Monday’s strip, sit back with an Amaretto and Rum and enjoy what’s to come in the next little while. It might get crazy!
As for philosophical discussions of Sci-Fi and Fantasy, my library favours more the Fantasy/Sword and Sorcery side of that equation. You’ll find extensive Robert E.Howard, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Moorcock, Lieber, etc. on my shelves.
Friday night Woohoo … Mario kart (old school), coffee and a wee chaser to help wash down the popcorn. Happy Friday Ya’ll 🙂 Enjoy your weekend.
I think you’re what is known as a gamer-wench! 😉
Great strip, I’ll remember never to mess with Sonya’s coffee!
That’s just a good thing to keep in mind as a general rule 😉
Thanks, Doug!
