We Meet Again!

Now things are moving along and we’re getting into Agnes’s reasoning and how she might have come to the decision to become Sonya Crimson. There are few powerful things as strong as the power of nostalgia and the memories that we hold dear from our childhoods. Sometimes it’s a smell or an object that triggers those memories, but there is no denying their strength and influence on a grown human being. How does Trudy fit into all this and why are they such bitter enemies in the present? Well..that’s a story to be told right here very soon. So stay tuned! Have a great week everyone – Jim
How kewel is this? Agnes hasn’t even become Sonya yet, and they’ve made an action figure of her!
Don’t forget, paws4thot, that she is cosplaying a well-loved comicbook character. But it looks like, at this point, Sonya Crimson has fallen onto hard times.
“Sonya Crimson has fallen onto hard times.”
At least the un-updated version. Haven’t thought about it before, but if Trudy’s cosplay reflects the current look of the character, people would view Agnes’ cosplay as a nostalgia/retro act.
That was a joke, based on how much you made the figure’s face look like Agnes.
BTW I didn’t notice the missing arm either; same issue of perspective.
I am totally like that with books & music & old tools. I’ve sampled and loved a lot of weird exotica, and I’ll be walking through a Goodwill or something. BAM! “Voyager In Night” by C.J. Cherryh, or “Breed to Come” by Andre Norton, or a hand-cranked auger, etc., And, it’ll be “Oh, lovely to see you again, old friend!” and I have to give it a home and/or renew it back into working condition.
Those were my kinds of toys when I was growing up. I see Sonya Crimson there requires a mild bath and some armor polish. Something so satisfying.
Nice pair of perspective shots there in panels #2 & 3.
Not to mention the figures left arm is missing. Wasn’t sure if that was clear enough in the drawing.
I don’t know why we develop such an attachment to things. I couldn’t stand to part with some of my books and things. Sometimes I wish I could just get rid of it all and purge all my stuff.
Ha ha ha … Nope. Totally missed the missing arm. The perspective in the final panel makes you just assume it’s behind her. All the more challenge and greater satisfaction in the final restoration.
I went through a total (involuntary) purge of everything I owned in 2010. Literally, and I mean it LITERALLY, the clothes I was wearing and one suitcase survived. Well, that, and I still own the crushing debt. Doesn’t seem to be a way to lose that.
Trust me. It’s not all it’s cracked up to be. Mostly I try not to think about it because crippling depression doesn’t make for part of your survival kit.
By the way, there’s a pretty cute webcomic I’d like to give a shout out to: http://www.bittersweetcandybowl.com/c89/p1.html
That link takes you to the first page of the current story arc, which is turning out to have a cosplay theme at a convention. It’s not quite 1/3 of the way in, so not sure where it’ll end up yet. Also, the current art style is a major switch from the last few arcs. Some course language and high school angst, life situations & (non-graphic) sexuality themes commonly run through that strip, otherwise pretty tame and good humor. Recommended.
misspelled my email address. Again … 🙄
I’ve been there as well, 3X. There have been times I’ve had to get rid of things I love just for the money. But in the end they are only things. I’m just thankful to be healthy, to have a decent job and people who love me.
Gotta love looking through the dollar bins at conventions, they always have some rare gems. Haha, I see spongebob hiding in there too!
Glad you spotted him. Just a little easter egg 😉
Sometimes you find the best stuff in the cheap bins. Just because someone else doesn’t like something, doesn’t mean it’s not worth something to someone else.
One mans trash is another mans treasure 😉
