The evil mirror image of the protagonist is a tested and true formula in genre fiction. From Tarzan to Captain Kirk, from Sherlock Holmes to Batman, they’ve all struggled with their dark side in the very literal sense of the word. I could do no less with my heroine of the cosplaying world. While my Sonya is all innocence and trust; Dark Sonya is twisted and malevolent. How twisted and malevolent?..well, you’ll have to stay tuned to find out.
Be safe my friends and treat your people well. Till next time!- Jim
Ohhhhh… I like Dark Sonya!
Ah yes, the Dark Reflection in the mirror. Sonya has it easy, she knows where her Evil twin is, and thus can keep a watchful eye on her. I know not where my dark doppleganger lives, although I have it on the highest of authority that my asian twin lives in burnaby vancouver.
Ah yes, if only peoples dark sides were so easy to spot! I keep mine chained up in a basement and throw him Hershey bars and a Big Mac on occasion.
Such rivalries and disputes may only be resolved via hot oil wrestling matches. Best two out of three. The temperature of the oil is stipulated to be “comfortably, if not luxuriously, warm.”
Seriously. See the sub-chapter on “CosPlay Costumes: Resolving genre, era and multiple universe versions occurring at the same Con.” It was totally necessary when three Uhura’s showed up sporting the Classic mini-skirt (with Go-Go boots), the evil alternate universe Uhura from the original series and an Uhura with the updated new look. That took a legendary five rounds of sudden death, with Orion green Jello in final elimination.
Nobody remembers who won, but everyone agrees it was legendary. 😛
Gloriously legendary, 3X. Reminiscent of the “Sonja Wars” of the 70’s. Brutal, bloody and mercifully short. Epic in scope and glorious in grandeur, the outcome had no true victor, but respect was gained and legends were made. Attached is a rare photo of the opponents in a lull before the battle:
The Sonja Wars. Included in the battle were a deranged wizard and a cross-dressing pirate apparently.
Frank Thorne had a Hefner thing going there…
He sure did…the sly old fox!
Aah, NOW I get the eyepatch reference.
